Their wedding day had finally arrived!  After such a fun and colorful early fall engagement session with Karen and Shawn, I knew this day would be so amazing…and it was!  In fact, it was a magical day.  One that started with rain drops, so many rain drops.  One that was filled with lovely Tiffany details – jewelry, decor, and matching pedicure for the bride!  A stunning wedding gown.  Sparkly shoes.  Luscious florals.  An antique car.  Family, friends, and love.  Lots of love!  Karen and Shawn both made the best of the rainy weather.  And as luck would have it, we were able to do all of our portraits outdoors!  The bride and groom, and their wonderfully sweet and fun bridal party, were up for anything, and I couldn’t be more thankful to them for that!  While the rain varied from mist to downpour status at times, the weather broke just in time for their beautiful outdoor ceremony!  And we had the most amazingly perfect golden light at sunset, just in time for more portraits before the reception began!  I was giddy with excitement at how the day had gone – we were even ahead of schedule, despite potential rain delays!  Karen and Shawn know how to throw a lovely party and no detail was overlooked!  Friends and family danced the night away under the warm glow of the tent, surrounded by romantic Tiffany blue, peach and chocolate details.  What an honor it was to capture the happy couple’s first day as husband and wife!  Karen and Shawn, I hope you enjoyed every second of your honeymoon in Turks and Caicos!  I cannot wait to hear about it!  I had the honor of working alongside Sarah with Cooper Events.  Sarah and her amazing team made the day flow so incredibly smoothly and made it oh so fun!  And now for some favorites from their lovely wedding day!

How cool is the groom’s wedding band?!

The dapper groom.  Karen, you need to have this framed for your desk!

 So cute!!!

Oh my goodness!  Karen, you were such a stunning bride!  You are so beautiful!

When I asked these lovely ladies if they wanted to twirl in their chocolate lace with Tiffany blue ribbon dresses, they thought it was a splendid idea!  ðŸ˜‰

I simply could not get enough of all of dreamy florals!

Karen smiled all day long!  She was so excited to finally see her groom!

You two!!!!  Love both of these!

Glowing light!  And Karen’s killer smile!

Lovelovelove.

Don’t you love Karen’s Tiffany-inspired pedicure?

Shawn was doing The Robot…and Karen loved it!

After a wonderful meal, guests were invited to snack at the popcorn bar!  What a fun idea!

She was studying abroad in France, focusing on her love of architecture, art history, and communications.  She loved reading and taking in the views from her favorite Parisian spot, Cafe de Flore.

Jose, who was visiting some friends in Paris while studying law in England, loved getting up early each morning for a good run to start his day.  And this day started out just like any other.  Thunder rumbled softly in the distance, but it didn’t deter him from lacing up his running shoes.

This one particular Tuesday morning, a sudden downpour sent Jose into the nearest cafe for shelter.  It was the very same cafe where she sat, on her phone, scribbling notes, and working away on her tablet.  She was beautiful.  And he found himself stopped in his tracks.  Something about her captivated him.  She noticed him staring her way, and she flashed a friendly smile.  Usually quite shy, Jose made his way to her table and asked if he could perhaps buy her a cup of coffee.  She said yes.  He asked her name.  “I’m Christina,” she answered.  They sat in that cafe for hours, watching the rain fall, watching passersby, and discovering that they shared quite a bit in common, including their hometown.  When the rain had let up, Jose asked if he could take her to some of his favorite places just down the avenue.  Again, she said yes. After that day, Jose had to return to England to his studies.  He visited Christina every other weekend, and together they explored all of the sights and sounds the City of Lights had to offer.  They love exploring new places together.  Jose takes delight in doing his research before traveling so that he can be Christina’s own personal tour guide, finding sweet, romantic spots to take in delicious new foods, as well as those must-see tourist spots where they take obligatory “selfies” to share with friends and family back home.  They both agree that laughter is the best medicine.  And dancing!  They both love to dance, anything from salsa to The Robot!

When their summer studies had ended, they both knew they were destined to spend the rest of their lives together.  On Jose’s last trip to Paris, he proposed to Christina, with La Tour Eiffel in the distance.  Once again, she said “Yes!”

Upon returning home from Europe, the pair planned their wedding day and knew that it must include elements from their time spent together in Paris.  Decor and styling details were chosen based on favorite places they visited together, such as cafes where they shared dessert and streets where they strolled hand in hand.  Even their beloved pup joined them after the ceremony for photos!  And the palette was chosen to remind them of the vivid and sweet orchid hues of the trees and flowers in bloom all around the city where their love story unfolded.

It was such a delight to work with the following wedding professionals!  Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this inspirational shoot so amazing!  And thank you so much for your incredible patience in waiting several months for these images to be shared!

Throughout their engagement session, I just kept feeling more and more excited for their wedding! Kelly and Scott were married at the lovely Mansion at Oak Hill on a typical Midwestern summer day.  One of those days where a mix of clouds and sun and humidity can make for some serious rain storms. However, Kelly and Scott had luck on their side!  A few rain drops fell as the groom and his groomsmen made their way to the front of the ceremony.  As soon as the bride’s proud father walked her down the steps to make her way to her soon-to-be husband, we were left with soft and sweet light that danced through the tall trees.  And they had a beautifully perfect ceremony, officiated by a close family friend, witnessed by the ones they loved most in this world, and looked down upon with great favor by those who have passed on.  Kelly and Scott, thank you so much for choosing me to photograph such a special time in your lives!  You are truly blessed with sweet and witty friends and warm and welcoming family members.  I hope that you had an amazing time in the Dominican Republic for your honeymoon!  And now for some favorites from your wonderful wedding day!  Friends and family can view the entire online gallery here.

Kelly’s stunning gown and bridal details were so much fun to photograph!

Scott was cool, calm, collected…and so excited to see his bride!

His groomsmen were easy-going and a breeze to work with!  Thank you, guys!

Meanwhile, Kelly and her bridesmaids finished getting ready.

Ohhhhh, Kelly!  You were such a gorgeous bride!

Lovelovelove!

Kelly’s sister and friends just adore her!

The outdoor ceremony space was beautiful, nestled among the tall trees.

Kelly and her father were all smiles as they entered the ceremony!

I spotted this handsome little fellow in the crowd!  Look at those blue eyes!

Married!!!

Aren’t they a gorgeous couple?!  Favorite!

As guests made their way to cocktail hour, it was portrait time for the newly minted couple!

It was insanely adorable to watch these two during their portraits.
Scott just couldn’t take his eyes off his new bride!

You two made my job so easy and so incredibly fun!  Love both of these!

Another favorite!

The Mansion at Oak Hill has bright and cheerful blooms at every corner.  I loved photographing this venue and can’t wait to go back next month!

Their pink and blue theme carried throughout their reception details…and especially their with their unique cake!  More on that in a moment…

I loved how excited the entire bridal party was during their introductions!

Love this!

And now back to their cake!  The colors and detail were just amazing!  And how cute are those owls!

Heartfelt toasts were given by the Matron of Honor and best friend of the bride, Kristen.

And Charlie, the Best Man and brother of the groom, moved everyone in the room to tears, as he toasted to loved ones they dearly missed and to his hero and role model, Scott.

The end of the night came so quickly!
Guests cheered for their favorite couple as they waved sparklers in the air.

Kelly and Scott, what a beautiful wedding day you had!  And what an honor it was for me
and my husband to document it for you both!  Wishing you a lifetime of joy and happiness, just like you shared on your special day!  Can’t wait to see you soon and hear all about the DR!

I absolutely love photographing weddings and engagements!  When I first meet a couple and we just click, I get SO excited and feel completely honored to be the one chosen to capture such an amazing time in their lives!

I love hearing about how they met and fell in love.  How he makes her laugh with his sense of witty humor.  And the way he makes her feel so safe and secure when he hugs her tight.  I love hearing about why they chose their favorite place to get married, because it’s special to their family. Or maybe he surprised her by taking her there on their first date.  Maybe they both love wine and so it only makes sense to say “I Do!” at their favorite vineyard.  Or maybe they met on the stairs downtown in the Statehouse, and they want to always remember the grand serendipity of how their lives changed forever…and for the better!  Perhaps saying your vows with your toes in the sand on some tropical island is more your style…I love that too!

I’m a sucker for a great love story, and I want to capture yours!  Whether it be on a vineyard, in a grand hall with incredible architecture, in a beautiful rustic barn, in a garden full of colorful blooms, under the big tree that has been on your family’s property for decades, or at a historic building or landmark that speaks to your heart.

Do you know someone who is searching for their engagement and wedding photographer?  Please feel free to share this post with them, and let them know  that I’d love to chat wedding details with them!

After a delightful day spent with Jen and Ryan for their engagement session, the time had finally arrived for them to say “I do!”  And they did just that in front of a beautiful waterfall, amid swaying palm trees, and surrounded by their beloved family and friends at Jones Crossing.  The misty, rainy day allowed the bride and groom plenty of time to prepare indoors.  When the time came for portraits of the groom and his groomsmen, the rain had stopped for the rest of the day!  The bride and her father were escorted to the ceremony by a fairytale horse and carriage.  Sunlight shined through the palm branches during Jen and Ryan’s sweet and personal ceremony, and it was sheer perfection!  Jen and Ryan, thank you for choosing me to document your first day as husband and wife!  I hope you enjoyed the beauty of the Hawaiian islands during your honeymoon!  Enjoy some favorites from your amazing day!  Friends and family can view their entire gallery here.

Starting with the cutest little flower girl trying on the bride’s shoes!
Payton, you are so pretty!

Dapper Ryan and his groomsmen:

Meet Andrew, the handsome and happy ring bearer!

Back inside, bridal preparations continued!
So pretty!

 Gorgeous, Jen, just gorgeous!

Jen was so excited to be a bride!  She smiled the entire day!

Moments before going to see her father before the ceremony….love this!

Off to the ceremony!  What a fun surprise for the bride and groom!  A favorite!

Guests signed a map of the Hawaiian islands!  What an awesome idea!

Ryan was patiently waiting to see his bride for the first time that day.

Love this!

Long-time friend of the groom officiated the ceremony.

These two gorgeous images were captured by my husband, Reggie.  He is so good!

Being the ring bearer is hard work. 😉

Jen and Ryan incorporated a favorite engagement image
in their unity sand ceremony.

The couple surprised their mothers with lovely red roses during the ceremony.

Pure joy!

Marrrrrrrrried!!!!!!

After the recessional, the bride and groom were whisked away by the carriage!

The adorable couple!  Favorites!

Beautiful!

Heartfelt speeches from the Matron of Honor and Best Man.  Jen and Ryan are truly surrounded by amazing people!
I was a bit obsessed with their cake!

The flower girl and ring bearer rushed up to get a front row seat of the cake cutting!
It was beyond adorable!

I love Reggie’s view from the balcony!

Jen and Ryan’s first dance was so sweet to witness!  They held each other tight and sang all of the words to the song they chose.

And Jen and her father made everyone smile with their moves!

We ventured outside for the last bit of daylight.

I’ll end this post on another favorite, as guests cheered on the bride and groom, lighting the path to a lifetime of love and happiness!

Jen and Ryan, your wedding day was wonderful!  Thank you so much
