My wonderful husband got up early to make me a delicious breakfast for my birthday…French toast with strawberries and a side of crispy bacon (just the way I like it), and a hot cup of java. Now that’s what I call perfect!

Thank you, Reggie! You are the best!
Not sure what’s in store the rest of the day, but I do know we are going out for dinner this evening. Any suggestions?

Perfect way to start my day…

My husband and I took a quick road trip this weekend to celebrate Valentine’s Day and to pick up a 1973 BMW 2002. It was two years ago on Valentine’s Day when Reggie proposed. Oh my goodness, time flies! As I got in the car ready to hit the road, this beautiful cream rose was waiting for me in the front seat. Reggie said it reminded him of the roses in my wedding bouquet. How sweet! And, of course, I had to photograph it!

We have been to St. Louis before, a couple of years ago. Although it was cloudy and a bit windy on Valentine’s Day, it was cool and sunny on Sunday. We enjoyed dinner downtown, not too far from our hotel, which overlooked the Arch. We had time for some photos of the famous Gateway Arch before it was time to head home on Sunday.

Here is the car that we picked up. Reggie removed some loose parts, especially the grille on the front, and stowed them safely in the trunk. We’ll be able to use parts from this car to fix up our 1969 2002. More on that project in the coming months!

Thank you, Reggie, for a fun-filled Valentine’s Day weekend! Love ya!

Happy (belated) Valentine’s Day!

My dear friend Audrey asked me to take some photos of her husband’s gorgeous 120 gallon saltwater tank. There are so many colorful fish, corals, and live rocks, it was really fun to capture them all! Audrey created a coffee table book for Phil’s birthday using these images, as a tribute to his cool hobby. I’ve learned that it takes quite a bit of time and effort to keep this tank looking so beautiful. And careful consideration goes into selection and placement of each element. It truly is a piece of living art.

If I were a fish, I’d want to run my little fins through this soft green “grass”!

(No, this is not really grass!)

See, now this fish has the right idea!

These clown fish had their eyes on me.

A lovely yellow coral.

These fantastic creatures seemed rather intrigued by me and my camera.

See how many of them are looking this way?

A shrimp is hanging out on the upper right, while Nemo #1 and Nemo #2 stare me down.

(All names been changed to protect the privacy of these fish.)

I love the simplicity of just one little blue fish.

…somebody’s watching me…again!

My favorite aspect of this project was how often the “scenery” changed!
Fish dart to and fro, corals sway from side to side.

This was one of my favorites to watch swim around – the hawkfish.

Hope you had a great birthday, Phil!

Audrey, what a wonderful idea, thank you so much for allowing me to help!

I received an email last night from a company that publishes online travel guides for various cities and destinations around the world. This message informed me that my photo had been selected as a finalist for their Key West guide! If it is chosen for their publication, it will be seen by many people across the nation and around the world, with credit being given to me as the photographer. What an honor! This is very exciting news! I was able to accept or decline this opportunity. Of course, I happily (and eagerly) accepted!!! I’ll keep you posted as I learn more.

Exciting News!

I thought I would share some recent photos of dear Lola while I’m working on some other posts which will be coming soon! Lola, thank you for being patient for so long! I know 5 minutes can seem like an eternity, especially when you’re this beautiful and have a million things to do.

I think she would like this one, since it makes her seem a little taller.

Lola “requested” a photo with some dramatic sidelighting.

Lola, thanks again for working it out for the camera! šŸ˜‰
