Newfields Engagement Portraits // Hannah + Ryan

s

Ohhh, friends!!!  This insanely adorable duo will be getting married this fall, and I can hardly wait!  Hannah and Ryan are the kind of people you love being around, always smiling and happy go lucky.  They love traveling, playing tennis, riding bikes, visiting wineries, and spending quality time together.  Speaking of traveling, they were spending time abroad in Italy with Ryan’s family during the summer of 2017.  The day they were exploring Positano, they walked along the beach in the mid-day sun.  When Hannah turned around to look at Ryan, he was on one knee asking her to marry him!  He had had the ring in his pocket the whole day, waiting for the right moment to ask her.  She said yes, and together they’ve been planning a wedding day of their dreams ever since!

I truly adore all of my wedding couples!  Their stories are uniquely theirs, and no two are the same!   Hannah and Ryan met in high school.  They shared a class and didn’t know each other.  Both of them worked at the same movie theatre.  And through mutual friends, they began to form a beautiful friendship.  Although they both liked each other as more than friends, neither one wanted to risk jeopardizing their relationship.  However, fate had other plans!  They soon went on their first date, and the rest, as they say, is history.  My connection to Hannah came about when I had the honor of photographing her senior portraits!  I remember that day so vividly!  We explored downtown Indianapolis on a lovely fall day, and she smile the whole time!  So many portraits of her from that day are still some of my favorites!  Hannah, you are going to be such a gorgeous bride!!!  Fast-forward to a couple of years ago when I was planning a styled wedding project and needed some models for the bridal party.  I reached out to Hannah and her boyfriend, Ryan, and they agreed to come and spend the day with me!  They were so cute together, I just knew they were an amazing couple!  I had a hunch that one day soon I’d hear that they’d be getting married!  And I knew at that point that I’d be so incredibly honored to document their wedding day!  More fast-forwarding to 2017 when I saw on social media that they were traveling in Italy.  Call it intuition, call it wishful thinking, whatever you want to call it, I had a feeling!   Days later Hannah shared the news that Ryan proposed on the beach in beautiful Positano, Italy!  Mama mia!!!  After they returned from the adventure of a lifetime, I got a message from Hannah asking to meet with me about their wedding day!  And, as they say, the rest is history!  At our meeting, it turns out that I had another connection with this pair.  Ryan has family that live in my hometown, and his late uncle was my high school Biology X teacher!  I loved that class, and talking with Ryan about him brought back so many fond memories of learning so many interesting things in his uncle’s class!  Well, except for dissecting frogs and worms, but I digress.  It’s not every day you make connections like this, and it’s all part of what I love so much about this work that I get to do!

Both Hannah and Ryan have continued their studies since graduation from college, and have been planning their wedding over the past 2 years.  They were so excited to celebrate their engagement and to make the wait seem a bit shorter by having their engagement portraits taken in the Spring of 2018.  And I’m so delighted to finally share a few favorites from their beautiful spring day exploring the colorful gardens at  Newfields!  Hooray for all of the purple flowers in bloom just for Hannah!  Hannah and Ryan, you two are such a wonderful couple, and I am so excited to travel alongside you both during this special season!

Counting down the days until your wedding, H + R!!!  Hugs to you both!!!
