I’ve been so excited about sharing more from Anne and Nick’s Cinco de Mayo wedding at the Morris-Butler House and Flat 12 Bierwerks!  The day couldn’t have been more beautiful with bright blue skies, fluffy white clouds, colorful details, and all the happy smiling faces.  And two faces that shined brighter  because they are better together – Anne and Nick.   Let’s pick up where we left off, just as they shared their First Look.  Friends and family can view their entire gallery here.

Anne and Nick, you were so stunning on your wedding day!

Favorite!

This gorgeous necklace belonged to Anne’s Grandmother.  It was also worn by Anne’s sister, Audrey, at her wedding 5 years ago.  (Happy Anniversary, Audrey and Phil!)

It is a family tradition to play the bagpipes at weddings.  The bride’s uncle is so talented, and it just added another personal and unique element to the day.

Ceremony time!

Gorgeous sunlight streamed through Anne’s veil as she made her entrance.

Married!!!

Random wedding guests were given flowers to fill this cool vase, handmade by the groom.  Anne and Nick added two roses during the ceremony.  Such a lovely, creative way to symbolize their union and that of their families!

Nick’s handmade vases were filled with fresh herbs and decorated each table at the reception.

The groom also made their cupcake stand!

I love that their First Dance song was perfectly them.

They sang to each other the whole time, it was so sweet to witness.

One proud Father of the Bride.

And Nick and his Mom had a fun time dancing and singing too.

Bright florals, sparkly bling!

I just couldn’t go into this long holiday weekend without sharing some beautiful images from a recent wedding that took place on a lovely, sunny Cinco de Mayo at the historic Morris-Butler House.  Anne and Nick had been counting down the days until they exchanged “I do’s” in front of their closest friends and family members.  Frankly, I have to admit I was counting right along with them!  Ever since their engagement session, I knew their wedding day was going to be one amazing event!  With their style and love of art and color, they put so much into each and every detail and moment of the day, making it a fun, unique, and festive celebration!  Love it!  Much more to come soon, but for now, let’s take a quick look at some bridal details and moments leading up to the ceremony!

These gorgeous bracelets were given to Anne by her dear friend and bridesmaid, Jenny.

Something blue.
Anne got this fabulous vintage purse from Nick’s Mom – love the intricate beading!
And the gold accents paired perfectly with those bracelets!

I always love receiving the wedding invitations from my couples… and this one especially rocked my socks off since they used some engagement images!
Such a beautiful wedding dress!

The sparkling brooch was a Christmas gift from the bride’s sister and Matron of Honor, Audrey.

I’m absolutely smitten with the Morris-Butler House!  And on their wedding day, it was particularly beautiful with blue skies and puffy white clouds.
Anne was an excited bride! She could not stop smiling!

Gorgeous florals!
While Anne and her bridesmaids finished getting ready, it was time to get some portraits of the groom.

At the rehearsal dinner the night before, Anne and Nick surprised each other with wedding gifts.
He loved this stylish chapeau Anne picked out for him.

Anne!!!!!  You were such a beautiful bride!

It was time for Anne and Nick’s First Look!  I always love this time of the wedding day!  When I meet with couples, I give them options, and encourage them to decide what is right for them.  I’m always so glad when couples do opt to see each other prior to the ceremony.  You’ll see why in just a moment…
The father of the bride escorts her to meet Nick.

As I was saying above, a First Look gives the couple more time for portraits together, and allows for images that wouldn’t be possible when greeting each other at the end of the aisle during the ceremony. Plus, all family photos can be taken before the ceremony as well, leaving more time for even more bride and groom and bridal party portraits.  Yay!

A favorite!

Such a gentleman!  Nick helps his soon-to-be wife down the steps.
I’ll end this post with the sneak peek that I posted the day after their wedding on facebook

Stay tuned for more coming soon!
Have a happy and safe holiday weekend!

Jen and Doug’s love story is one that is beautifully composed, floating along a musical score that only Bach or Beethoven could have dreamed of penning.  They met while attending Butler University back in 2003.  Their paths were destined to cross as they were both in band, for music was something they both loved and understood.  They sat in some of the same classrooms, and hung out in the same circle of friends.  In 2004, their musical score went from a solo to a lovely, harmonious duet as they started dating.  And a few years later, they joined hands and hearts in front of their beloved family and friends to officially mark the beginning of their overture, their life together.  A lovely, harmonious duet.

Jen and Doug, thank you for allowing me the honor of capturing your beautiful wedding day!  I wish you a lifetime of happiness and love, a perfect melody. Friends and family can view their online gallery here.

Jen’s gorgeous gown!

The cool, misty December day beckoned friends and family to join them inside the warm, inviting Church of the Holy Cross.  With the help of her sweet friends, Matron of Honor, Marcy,
and bridesmaid, Sarah, Jen prepared for her First Look.

Doug sent her a wedding gift – beautiful blue earrings
that just so happen to match her engagement ring.

Doug waits to see his bride to be during their First Look.  Have I mentioned that
I love when couples choose to do a First Look?  It is often one of the only times throughout the day that the couple is alone together, besides my being there, of course.  Furthermore, family photos are taken prior to the ceremony, allowing guests more time to enjoy the celebration.  In a similar manner, there is usually more time for portraits of the newly minted couple and the wedding party.  It’s definitely something to consider when planning your wedding day timeline!

Doug could not stop smiling!

Jen, you were such a beautiful bride!   A favorite!

Just minutes before the ceremony began…

I love the way Doug is beaming while seeing his bride walk down the aisle to meet him!

Holy Cross is absolutely gorgeous!

Then it was time for the reception to start!  Jen and Doug designed their own cake, complete with snowflakes to match their wedding day theme!

Perfect toasts were given by Best Man, Chris, and Matron of Honor, Marcy.

Followed by one of the sweetest First Dances ever to the Rainbow Connection

Jen and Doug, it was truly a joy and honor to share in your wedding day!
You are blessed with amazing families and friends – everyone was so nice and so wonderful
to work with!  What a perfect way to end 2011 and welcome the New Year!   Congratulations!!!

P.S.  A huge thank you to my husband and best friend, Reggie, for shooting and assisting me at this wedding!  I love you!

Their beautiful wedding has been in the making since 1999, when they met in Cancun.   Their love story is anything but ordinary… it is unique, all their own.  California guy meets Midwestern gal, they fall in love, and dance the night away among family and friends.  That’s the short version.  The abbreviated version.  For to tell the whole lovely story would take far too long, so I’m hoping the images below will do their story the justice that is so deserved.  After their amazing engagement session in Santa Monica, I’ll admit I was overcome with excitement when their wedding day finally arrived!  To say that Katherine and Jesse’s wedding weekend was wonderful would be an understatement.  From the warm welcome party, with its heartfelt, personal, and hilarious speeches – and Courtney’s poem that left not a dry eye in the room – to the wedding day, full of joy and celebration, gorgeous details, a stunning couple, a fantastic party, super kind and super fun people, to the sweet Sunday brunch, where everyone was not quite ready to say goodbye to the happy couple, to such a perfect weekend… These two are so genuine, warm, funny, and loved.  Guests traveled from all over the world to Ohio’s capital to share in their special day, including Arizona, California, Chicago, Canada, Florida, Israel, China, and Singapore.  Katherine and Jesse, documenting your day was such an incredible honor, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for choosing me.  I wish you two all the joy and happiness that this world has to offer and more.  Cheers to sweet dances, clinking glasses, and love.  Forever.

Without further adieu, let’s get to the images, shall we?  I have been so excited to share more from Katherine and Jesse’s wedding since their quick sneak peek earlier this week!  Family and friends may view the entire online gallery here!

Katherine’s day started at Max the Salon with Maggie for an elegant up-do:

What a fantastic view from the bride’s suite!

Then it was time for makeup by Robbie:

I learned that Katherine grew up playing the piano, so it was perfect that there was a grand piano in her suite!

Katherine, you have such great style!

Such a gorgeous wedding gown…seriously stunning.

Not that she needed any luck, but this sixpence was given to Katherine at the salon for the occasion.

Then we were off to the Statehouse to get ready for Katherine and Jesse’s First Look!

One of my many favorite moments of the day…

Katherine, you are exquisite!  So incredibly beautiful!

There are several advantages of doing a First Look – more time for portraits, time to take care of family photos prior to the ceremony, which means more time can be spent with guests later at the reception.  Win!
P.S. I adore you guys – what a gorgeous couple!!!

Love these next two:

There was a little time to relax before the ceremony…and some time to cuddle!

Then it was time for the ceremony to begin!

The Ohio Statehouse is such a wonderful place for a wedding!  So grand, so romantic, love it!

Katherine’s brother, Dan, was the officiant.  What a perfect, personal touch!  He did a fabulous job!

Sealed with a kiss…

Breaking of the glass and a sweet kiss before the newlyweds recess…

Their fabulous cake!
Beautiful blooms!

Breathtaking reception decor!

A favorite!

Katherine, Jesse is a keeper!  He bustled her dress before making their Grand Entrance.

Katherine and Jesse choreographed their First Dance, and it was so fun to watch!

Favorites!

After the First Dance, everyone joined the newlyweds for the Hora Dance!
Reggie, my wonderful husband, captured the view from above, while I was in the middle of the dance on the floor!  What a rush!

Once guests took their seats, dinner and toasts began.  First, the bride’s parents:

Then Jesse had a wonderful speech prepared to thank his family, friends, and to say how much he loves Katherine.  It was very clear throughout this event just how much family and friends mean to this couple.
Another favorite.

Jesse’s brother and Best Man, Zachary, had everyone in stitches!

Katherine’s sister and Matron of Honor, Elizabeth, recalled fun times when they were younger, including riding around in the family VW bus.

And as if Dan hadn’t already outdone himself with a beautiful ceremony, he had one heck of a speech.
P.S. Katherine has the best laugh ever!

Jesse’s parents were perfectly funny and sweet with their words
about their son and new daughter-in-law.  They couldn’t be happier.

Family members watch as Katherine dances with her father.

Then it was time to dance the night away, with music by The Floorwalkers!  They were awesome, playing covers of favorites as well as cool originals.

Amazing, fabulous, fun, perfect, gorgeous, heartfelt, exhilarating, splendid… all words that describe your  wonderful wedding day, Katherine and Jesse, and I’m so blessed to have been there to witness it.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!
A special thank you to the bride and groom’s families – thank you so much for your warm hospitality!
To the wonderful team of coordinators, especially Lauren and her team, that made this day flow effortlessly, thank you so much, and I hope to work with you again in the future!
And to my husband Reggie, thank you for all of your assistance and hard work – I love you!
P.S. The online gallery is up, please feel free to check it out here!
