As many of you know, my husband Reggie is a super-talented and creative guy.  He loves working on BMWs, as well as special interest cars, like old GMC and Chevy trucks, vintage MGs, cars of all kinds.  Some of you have seen his sculptures over the years too.  We used to have a table made from an engine block that ran for the last time at the track during a driving school.  It will soon be for sale, since it’s not the most toddler-friendly coffee table around!  He’s also made a taller cocktail type table, a cat, a dog …all out of recycled BMW parts that he keeps around at his shop.  They are all so cool and so unique!  Well, this Christmas, I unwrapped a camera box, which he found in the basement, and inside was another one of his hand-crafted pieces…a camera!  I couldn’t believe it!  I was totally surprised and totally flattered by this one-of-a-kind work of art, complete with a rotating lens!

I love that the shutter is a nod to old school film cameras.  Using a 35mm, Reggie studied photography in high school learned to process his own film in the darkroom.
A friend of ours has commissioned Reggie to build a similar camera as a gift to her husband!

I love his perspective on the world, and how he always sees things in a different light.  I’m so blessed to be married to such a imaginative, inspiring, and supportive man, who continually encourages me to chase my dreams.  I love you, Reggie!

That One Time I Got A New Camera for Christmas

Happy Friday!  Just a quick post to share some personal photos with you, photos that are perfectly imperfect, photos that I will always cherish, photos that capture moments in time that I always want to remember.  They’re all taken with my iPhone camera, and they all happen to be in black and white!  My little guy is almost 18 months.  He walks, he runs, he chases the dog and laughs and squeals.  He loves red grapes and strawberries and bananas.  Giraffes and monkeys are two of his favorite animals, and he’s particularly talented at making sheep noises….baaa!  I love him to pieces.  And I’m so thankful to be his Mommy!

Have a wonderful weekend!

How did I forget to blog photos from Remington’s 1 year session?!  Everyone told me that once you have children, time flies by even faster…I’ve come to realize that everyone was so right about that!  We celebrated Remington’s first birthday with our family and close friends, and it was the perfect day!  We had beautiful sunshine and a nice breeze.  Remington got a highchair that he “helped” us pick out that day, and he absolutely loved sitting in it and taking in the view!  That evening he fell asleep in my arms and I cried big, happy, bittersweet tears.  Our baby was growing up.  He’d reached a big milestone.  And my how the time seemed to have zoomed by since first meeting him a year ago.  Remington, you are such a joy in our lives, we love you to the moon and back!  A few days after his party, my Mom helped me with Remington’s 1 year session.  We were quite a sight to see that day with a stroller, big balloons, a cake, toys, decorations, an overstuffed diaper bag, and camera gear!  Whew!  It was a lot of fun though!  Here are some favorites from that day!

Peek a boo!

Ha ha ha!  I can just hear him squealing in this one!

Oh how I love this face!

After some quick portraits, it was time to bring out the cake and balloons!
Isn’t this cake adorable?!  Our sweet friend, Lisa, made it!  Besides being an absolutely delicious chocolate cake, it was decorated even better than I had imagined!  Thank you so much, Lisa!!!

He loved holding onto the number 1!  And he still plays with it when he finds it in his toy bin!
I used some decor from his room too – the letter R and the striped rug.

At his birthday party, once he got a taste of his cake, he just played and played, making a huge chocolate-y mess!  However, this day, he was a little more reserved!

I love that icing was all over his little hands and feet!

Love you, sweet baby boy!  xoxo, Mommy

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being so wonderful!
Wishing you a Happy and Bright 2014!

It is Christmas Eve, and I’ve been snuggling and playing with my little guy all day!  He’s just settled in for a Christmas Eve nap, so there’s wrapping to be done!  We look forward to attending Christmas Eve Mass and hearing our favorite holiday carols and feeling the magic and spirit of this season.  We’ll be spending time with family, and we’re excited to see Remington really take in all that’s around him.

Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas, filled with glad tidings and good cheer!

Happy Holidays!
