Four months and ten days ago, our world became forever changed.  We had been blessed with this tiny, perfect little miracle that was all our own.  All the tears, the night feedings, the all day feedings, the diaper changes, the tight grasp of his fingers…they were all ours.  Becoming a parent has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, however, it has been so rewarding at the same time.  More on this in a later post.  So I’ll start at the beginning, when our sweet Remington was a newborn, but not before a little of the backstory.  It was Friday afternoon.  I met up with Reggie to run some errands, and we talked about how our due date was fast approaching – only 5 days to go!  It’s so funny to hear opinions on due dates while you’re pregnant – one camp says the first baby is always early, another says they’re always late, very few say they are right one time.  Well, I figured I had a while to wait since I hadn’t made any progress at my last  appointment.  This was fine with me!  Who doesn’t love a little extra time, you know, to get even more ready, to feel extra prepared, to hope the anxiety would pass… As Reggie and I drove around, he casually mentioned that it would be cool if our little guy came the next day, since we didn’t have any plans for the weekend.  I think maybe the little one heard us talking, because that every afternoon we found ourselves checking into the hospital after fighting rush hour traffic.  Fast forward through hours of labor to Saturday, September 15th.  It was time!  We were going to meet our baby boy any minute!  I’ll spare the details of my c-section, which went very smoothly.  We loved our hospital and all the staff was so completely wonderful.  My favorite memory, one that still makes my eyes well up with tears of happiness and awe and wonder…starts with this photo that Reggie took in the operating room:

The doctors held him up so that I could see him, and he was the most beautiful little thing!

7 pounds, 5 ounces and 21 inches (just like his momma!)
And then he got to lay right next to me.  I stared at him through blurry, tear-filled eyes, and I just couldn’t believe that this little guy was mine.

I held him tight as we were wheeled back to our room:

After being in the hospital a few days, we went home on our actual due date.  That first night was rough.  The first few weeks were very difficult.  But I wouldn’t change a thing, really, looking back now.  I feel stronger, like I can take on the world.  And that is quite something to be proud of.  And now for some of my favorites from Remington’s newborn session.  In full disclosure, Remington’s newborn photos were some of the most difficult photos I’ve ever taken!  After a few attempts by myself on very little sleep and with a subject who had no interest in sleeping, I enlisted the help of my parents and Reggie…it took a few sessions to get this little guy ready for his first official close-up.  šŸ˜‰  I’m not the first photographer to have the same issues when it comes to photographing their own kiddos!

That cute teddy bear on the right was Reggie’s first bear as a child!

Favorite!  He has his daddy’s long lashes!

Little sweet pea!

Remington’s Grandma Patti sent us this gorgeous orchid – they finally got to meet for the first time over Christmas (more on this later!)

Daddy bought this sweet bear at the hospital.

And the personalized wooden block is from a dear friend.

I just love his sweet little toes!

Remington has been growing so fast!  It has been so much fun capturing his sweet smile and fast-kicking feet these past few months!
Stay tuned for more on this amazing journey of parenthood and life!

Yes, we’re almost half way through January, and I’m writing a post entitled Happy New Year… Better late than never, right?!  While editing, I found some photos I took of my little guy who was sweet enough to indulge me for a few quick shots with a party hat (which is really a tiara, ooops!) and beads.  Remington was 16 weeks in these images – he turns 4 months tomorrow!  Whoa!!! Time has flown by these past few months!  After getting caught up from being on maternity leave, I’ve finally found some time here and there to work on images that I’ve taken of Remington.  He keeps me on my toes for sure! I’ll start with these for now with some newborn images to come soon!

2012 was a fantastic year filled with amazing clients, fun sessions, and beautiful weddings – I can’t wait to see what 2013 holds for me and my business!  Thank you to all my clients for continuing to fuel my passion for what I do, you are the best!  And thank you to my fabulous hubby, family, and friends for their love and support!  I am truly blessed!  Cheers to 2013!

Happy New Year!

Wishing everyone a happy holiday!  I hope this time of year finds you surrounded with family, friends, and lots of good cheer!  I’m looking forward to spending time with family, enjoying some holiday treats, and watching Remington experience his first Christmas.
As I’ve been out wrapping up (ha, pun not intended, but it works!) my Christmas shopping, people have remarked that I’ve received my Christmas gift early when they see Remington.  I couldn’t agree more!  I absolutely adore our little boy!

And, of course, Lucy and Lola wanted their Christmas portraits too!  šŸ™‚

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  Thank you for making 2012 another fantastic year…and I cannot wait to see what fun 2013 brings!

Hello friends!  Just a quick post to wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving!

Of course, I’m thankful for many things: my amazing husband, loving and supportive family and friends, my health, a job that I love, our pup and kitty, a warm home, etc.  However, this holiday I am especially thankful, because we have a new family member to celebrate with us! As most of you know, my husband and I had our first child in September.  And life hasn’t been the same since.  Remington has been such a joy (despite fussy times!), and he is already 2 months old!  His bright smile, sweet cooing, and snuggling have brightened our days in ways that we didn’t know possible.  And for this, I am so thankful.  I hope to share some of his newborn session soon!   For now, here are just a few photos that take note of fall’s colorful beauty.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Last Friday afternoon will be one that I’ll never forget!  I called Reggie to tell him he needed to come home…I was pretty sure that my water had broken!  We slowly made our way to the doctor’s office in Friday rush hour traffic.  They confirmed that, yes, indeed, my water had broken, and we were admitted to the hospital.  Within 24 hours, we laid eyes on our newest addition, our first child, our son, Remington James!  I’ll save the rest of the details for his newborn post, but for now, here is a quick peek thanks to our camera phones:

While I’m on maternity leave, I will be occasionally checking in to share photos and tidbits about our sweet baby boy.  We are enjoying spending quality time together as a new family, as well as adjusting to becoming parents.  I truly appreciate your patience during this very special time in our lives.  I will respond to calls and emails within 2-4 business days.  To schedule a session for Fall 2012 and beyond, please email me at stewartimagery@hotmail.com.  Thank you for your patience, thoughts, and well wishes as we start this amazing journey of parenthood!
