Q: How do I schedule a portrait session with Stewart Imagery?

A: Simply call or send an email letting me know what type of portrait session you’re interested in, and we’ll get it on the calendar! All portrait sessions are scheduled to take advantage of the best lighting conditions possible, usually around sunrise or sunset, if we’ll be photographing outdoors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have questions such as how to book a session, what to wear for photos, or what products are available to share your images? I'm happy to answer those questions and more to make certain that my clients are fully prepared for their experience -- from inquiry to planning, to the session itself and image delivery -- I'm here to guide my clients through every detail of the process!

Q: What is the turn-around time to receive my photographs?

A: For portrait sessions, I share some favorites within a few days of the session on social media. All images are carefully processed, and the full gallery will be delivered within 3 weeks after your session.

Q: What types of portrait sessions do you offer?

A: I love photographing portrait sessions for children, families, high school seniors, couples in love, engagements, anniversaries, maternity, and more! A new favorite creative portrait session includes entrepreneurs in need of branded imagery for their website and marketing materials. I would love to work with florists, interior designers, bakers, and anyone who has a passion for their business!

Q: What is your photography style?

A: My photography style is a mix of editorial, photojournalistic, and contemporary imagery. I love color, texture, and clean lines. I also love dramatic black and white photographs too! As for my posing style, when working with my couples during their engagement session, I give simple suggestions and directions, allowing them to make a pose their own. On the wedding day during the ceremony and reception, I capture the day as it unfolds naturally, as a quiet observer. I take pride in photographing family formals efficiently. And because of their experience at their engagement session, brides and grooms relax right into their romantic portrait time together, which I love! I’m always ready with ideas to keep things moving and to add variety to the Wedding Album!

Q: Do you offer albums and other products?

A: Yes, I do offer Custom Wedding Albums! I also offer Custom Engagement Guestbooks, gallery canvas wraps, note cards, thank you cards, and more! I’d love to chat with you about the perfect way to remember your wedding day for generations to come! And for my portrait clients, I offer Custom Albums, gallery canvas wraps, holiday cards, and more! These are perfect for keepsakes and gifts! Please ask for details. Pricing varies according to design and size.

Q: What should I wear for my portrait session?

A: Great question! I always recommend bringing a variety of wardrobe options, especially for Senior Sessions! Bring outfits that you love, that are comfortable, and that make you feel confident and amazing! Accessories, such as scarves, jewelry, shoes, hats, etc. add layers of texture and dimension to your ensemble. They also allow you to incorporate your personality, which will shine through in your collection of images. There are a few things to keep in mind when planning what to wear for your Session. 1. Season – Dress for the time of year. There are some exceptions to this, of course! For example, boots are great fall and winter accessories. They can also be super cute with a flirty floral dress in the spring! 2. Location – Dress for the environment. Will you be in a garden? In the woods? In an urban setting? Some attire and accessories make more sense than others. Again, rules are made to be broken! And I love when my clients want to express their creativity – and when they allow me to get creative! 3. Patterns – I love layers and textures and colors! However, when planning a wardrobe for a family portrait session, for example, keeping it simple is best! Start with one person’s ensemble and build other’s wardrobe options from there, using color, layers, and hint of prints (like plaid, stripes, florals) to create a cohesive (versus matchy-matchy) look. Keep in mind that large logos and text can be distracting in photos. 4. Style – If you’re being photographed with another person or group of people, it’s best to match each other in terms of style. And by style, I mean level of dress. If one of your wardrobe selections is perfect for a night out on the town, make sure everyone is dressed in a similar fashion. If your location calls for a more casual, relaxed style, plan accordingly to match each other’s level of dress. My goal is to make your Session as stress-free as possible, so I’m more than happy to be of assistance regarding wardrobe and location ideas!

Q: Can you help me with planning my wedding day timeline?

A: I’m more than happy to help with the timeline of the day! Most of my couples wish to have plenty of time for portraits of the two of them, and I love that about my couples! I provide tips on getting the most of out of your wedding experience when we meet to discuss your wedding day. If you will be working with a wedding coordinator, which is highly recommended for many reasons, I’m happy to meet with them to design a plan that perfectly suits your day!

Q: Can you recommend other wedding vendors who do great work?

A: Of course! I’m happy to share fantastic wedding professionals with whom I’ve had the pleasure to work alongside, especially for planning and day of coordination, florals, cakes and desserts, furniture and accessory rental, transportation, hair, makeup, tux/suit rental, invitations, and more! They are the best at what they do, offering great attention to detail and excellent customer service. I always ask my couples how I can assist them with any details when we meet to discuss their wedding day!

Q: What are your favorite wedding venues?

A: I have so many wedding venues that I have loved working with, and I have a long list that I would love to photograph in the future! There are some key elements that I seek when it comes to wedding venues: amazing architecture, beautiful landscaping, unique features, an abundance of natural light, and natural beauty. I would love to hear about your venue and how you chose it for your special day!

Q: Do you work with an assistant or second photographer?

A: Yes, I do always bring along an assistant/second photographer on wedding days. They are invaluable! They help in carrying and moving equipment and lighting gear, in addition to covering a different angle than what I am covering.

Q: What kind of gear do you use? Do you carry back-up equipment?

A: I’m a Nikon photographer! I use professional grade Nikon camera bodies, lenses, and lighting. I have a variety of lenses (primes are my favorite!) to use throughout the course of the day. I currently use the Nikon D750, and I have two extra camera bodies as back-up. I always search for the best lighting conditions available, however, there are several situations that call for additional lighting. In my bag, I carry lighting equipment, such as off-camera flashes and light stands, as well as a reflector, an abundance of memory cards, and extra batteries for everything. Lots of extra batteries!

"Stephanie was so very thoughtful and creative with her photographs of my daughter's wedding. The photos really captured the personalities and the finest details of the day. She even got a nice photo of the engraving on the inside of the groom's wedding band he got from his grandfather. Stephanie turned this wedding that we had 3 weeks to plan into a sweet and wonderful day of love. Having these photos and memories are priceless! Thank you, Stephanie!!!"

Elizabeth DiGiusto

"I hired Stephanie to capture the FEEL of the wedding I was creating, and she delivered it perfectly! As a wedding florist, it can be hard to get images that are true to color and style and I believe it is so hard to do just that. (But Stephanie did it!) I love all of the pictures I got back and I am so grateful to have those pictures to showcase my work. She was great with response time, meeting in person before the event, and was super focused and professional during the event. I cannot wait to work with her again!"
