Oh, Emerson Ray!!! How can it be that one year ago today we were meeting you for the first time?  We fell instantly in love with you, we were smitten, so full of joy and awe and wonder and pride.  How excited we were as we saw you and held you in our arms!  In the months before you were born, I wondered if it were possible to love someone as much as I love Remington… I worried that I wouldn’t be able to share my heart fully and equally with two babies…Thankfully I worried for nothing!  I think that the amount of love I feel has been multiplied by some force that’s definitely indescribable.  What a joy it has been to be your Mommy!  All the sleepless nights and extra snuggles in the wee hours of the morning have been moments I will always treasure.  We brought you home on Christmas Day 2015, and you’ve truly been such a gift to our whole family!  You are full of sweetness!  You love to snuggle with your blankie, eat (yogurt, apples, bananas, cantaloupe, oatmeal, macaroni, green beans, and, especially Mexican fried rice!), to explore, to play with spoons and bowls, to nap twice a day, to watch your big brother run and jump and dance, to make car noises, to blow raspberries, to squeal with delight at an ear-ringing pitch, to cruise along the couch and table, to climb up my legs, to read picture books like Snuggle Puppy, to splash in the tub (and I love your sweet little ringlets when your hair is wet!), and so much more.  We celebrated your birthday a few weeks early with family, and it was so special!  Even though you weren’t a fan of cake that day, I’m hoping that will change in time for your upcoming 1 year session!  If not, I will be happy to help you eat your birthday surprise!  😉  It has been so fun to document your 1st year – here is a quick look at some favorites and milestones!
Happy 1st Birthday to my little love, Emerson Ray!

A few favorites from my iPhone/Instagram!  Remington has become a wonderful big brother! It always melts our hearts when he tells Emerson he loves him, asks him if he’s ok, and shares his own toys and blankets with him when he needs them!

We are excited to celebrate with you today, little guy!  We love you so very much!

It’s almost impossible to believe that 4 years ago today, you made us parents!  Little did we know what a crazy, fun-filled adventure we had embarked upon!  You are caring and sweet, full of energy and imagination, passionate (especially about dinosaurs!), intelligent and independent, fun-loving, and so much more!  We are so proud to call you our son, and we love seeing how wonderful of a big brother you have become to Emerson!  Happy 4th Birthday, Remington!  We love you to the moon and back!  xoxoxo

We are excited to spend your birthday with you and your brother!  Happy Birthday, Bub!!!

One of my favorite details to photograph at weddings and in general anywhere I travel has to be flowers!  Their color and texture and shape beg me to photograph them.  Peonies are so beautiful, and they top my list of favorite blooms.  They were the focal flowers in my wedding bouquet. And my parents planted some heirloom peonies in our yard for us last fall!  They have been blooming over the past two weeks, and I am smitten with them!  When I saw that a friend of mine had signed up for a floral arranging class featuring peonies, I crossed my fingers that it would work out for me, and it did!  It was so much fun, and just the bit of creative inspiration I’d been searching for!  Thank you to Kindred – the boheme collective for hosting such a fun event!  If you’re looking for one of a kind clothing and accessories in a magazine-worthy environment, check them out and tell them I sent you!  I can’t wait to go back – I have my eye on some gorgeous items! And many thanks to sweet and talented Jacki of Ladybird for teaching all of us some floral arranging wisdom!  With such swoon-worthy flowers, I couldn’t help but have a mini photo shoot!  Lola loves peonies too, so she happily modeled for a few!  Here are some favorites!

Eight years ago today we said “I do!”  Today the sky is blue and the sun is shining, much the opposite of our wedding day.  Gray skies, misty rain, and cool temperatures didn’t keep us from having a wonderful day surrounded by our family and friends.  I’d say they were right about rain on your wedding day being good luck.  Eight years later I have two handsome boys, a career that I love, a loving family and group of friends, and the best husband I could have dreamed of.  Reggie, Happy Anniversary, I love you soooo much!!!

Wishing a Happy 47th Anniversary to my Mom and Dad on this day too!   Love you both!!!  xoxo

We’re headed off for a day of adventuring.  I don’t know where we’re going or what we’ll do exactly, however, I do know there’s no one else I’d rather adventure along with than this man of mine.

It’s amazing that my husband’s business and mine has allowed us to travel a bit!  In the fall of 2014, we flew south for a whirlwind mid-week trip.  New Orleans, NOLA, The Crescent City, The Big Easy.  Reggie had a 2-day conference to attend, which gave me time to explore this historic city.  Of course I took my camera with me!  Our hotel concierge shared some places he thought I should go, and I am so glad that I took his advice! Although most of my time was spent wandering the French Quarter, where we were staying, I did venture farther into the city for more sight-seeing.  I couldn’t get enough of the color, the architecture, the trees and flowers, all of it!  After two days, I still felt like I had so much more to see!  Walking and riding the trolley were my go-to modes of transportation.  It was easy to hop on and off wherever I wanted to go.  I did learn that at the end of a trolley stop it was ideal to know when to be back to catch it before the last departure time! 😉

We met some great people at Reggie’s conference, and met up with them for a fun evening at a piano bar, authentic jazz at a swanky bar (we bought a cd!), and meandering up and down the popular streets for which the Crescent City is so well known!  If you like to people-watch, this is definitely a great place to do so!  We’d love to go back when Reggie doesn’t have meetings to attend, there is so much to see and do!  I already have a list of places to check out the next time we are there!  And the world famous beignets and cafe au lait at Cafe du Monde did not disappoint!

New Orleans, thank you for a wonderful time, we can’t wait to come back!

You’ll see that I may have been a bit obsessed with photographing gorgeous St. Louis Cathedral!

I loved their signs!

The music from these talented artists drew quite a crowd, we were mesmerized by their unique sound!

St. Louis Cathedral was open to tourists, and was absolutely beautiful!

Wrought iron, brick, and greenery! Love!

I went on my own walking tour in a historic home district.  So much fun!!!

I could photograph homes and gates and sidewalks like this all day long!

The sprawling trees were amazing!

I wanted to pack up this doorway and bring it home with me!

It was such a gorgeous day!  The weather in October in NOLA is perfection!

What a gorgeous city you are, New Orleans!  Can’t wait to go back!
