The day we met was a hectic one! I was welcomed with a smile into their home, as beautiful, sweet twin girls greeted me and asked what I was going to be doing. They mentioned that their new baby brother was sleeping steps away. I was immediately drawn in by the warm, genuine, easy-going nature of this family. I was there to photograph their home before it went on the market. Their style and creativity made their house a cherished home with family photos highlighted throughout. While I was hired by their realtor to photograph their home, what I truly hoped for was the chance to work with them in the future. Before I left, I mentioned that I also photograph families and kids, and asked if I could share my business card with them. After all, they would need updated family portraits to include their precious new addition!
Good news: Their home sold within a few days!
Even better news and spoiler alert: A few months later I would be photographing this adorable crew!
With the golden sun shining in its splendor, we played games and danced and laughed our way through sunset in the tall grasses. Waylon sported the cutest sandals on his little feet! Dainty bows on their dresses and tying back their long, sun-kissed locks, Mille and Callie came ready to twirl! Becca’s cream and blush dress was perfection, and Jacob was ready for all the hugs and fast-moving kiddos that circled them! The soft neutral palette of their wardrobe popped in all the right ways against the terrain. All of it was everything!!!
Jacob, Becca, and kiddos! Every single second of our time together was pure joy! Thank you for whole-heartedly embracing these moments and making magic happen! Cannot wait for next time!!
Now for some favorites from this sun-splashed evening with the most adorable family!
You know when you’re so excited for something, and you have to wait…and wait…and wait some more? Well, the phrase “worth the wait” fits this next session to a T! The weather had not been cooperative, and caused us to reschedule more than twice! And when the day finally came for this family’s summer session, it couldn’t have been more beautiful! Warm and sunny, just like the sweet, fun-loving personalities of this blue-eyed foursome! I loved my time getting to know them, and it flew by so quickly! I have so many favorites from this sun-drenched evening, that I’ll get right to sharing a few! Wendy, Steve, L & K, it was so so fun to (finally!!!) meet you in person and to capture snuggles and giggles, smiles and sweet, simple moments! Enjoy the rest of the summer, and I look forward to next time!
Always love photographing at Holliday Park!
Any time clients refer their friends and families to me, it’s the biggest compliment! Last summer I photographed a gorgeous and oh so fun family, and this summer I’m photographing friends of theirs! Thank you so much, Julie, for sharing my name! It truly means the world to me! While we communicated on email about where their session would be held and tips on what to wear and what to expect, I knew my time with this trio would be a wonderful one! And I was totally right! Tiffani, Jack, and Jentry were all smiles and laughs and adored spending with each other in a new place, making my job a total breeze! I learned from Tiffani that Jack had suggested the location–one of my favorites!–even though they’d never been there before! Garfield Park Conservatory is beautiful, a perfectly fun and vibrant backdrop for portraits! I told Tiffani that it has been on my dream list to photograph a family here! I have a ton of favorites from our short time here, so let’s get right to them, shall we? Did you happen to see the dreamy engagement session taken just outside the Conservatory at Garfield Park’s Sunken Gardens? Check it out here! Want to have your portraits here too? Send me a message and let’s make it happen!!!
Tiffani, Jack, and Jentry, it was so wonderful to finally meet you and to document some precious family time! Wishing you a fantastic summer ahead!
“I would love to do photos in the snow! I love snow!” Ok, so I’m paraphrasing here, however, my sweet and beautiful friend, Marisa, shared what she had envisioned for her next family portrait session as we chatted during a play date with our kiddos some time last year. After all, she has traveled all over the world, including Iceland and Alaska, seeing snow in epic proportions and across breathtaking landscapes. And with our most recent snowfall, we knew this would be the perfect time! We had the perfect conditions for capturing portraits with little ones during winter — sunshine, no wind, and 37 degree temps! The kiddos had fun dancing in the snow, Happy Feet style! I was told they’ve been watching that movie on repeat lately! We worked quickly and had such a fun time! I told Marisa I would happily go along with her ideas anytime! Marisa, James, Clayton, Aaliyah, you are so much fun to hang out with and to explore the snow-covered creek and trails with on a winter’s day! Can’t wait to see you all again soon!
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas! It has been so wonderful to soak in this magical season with our boys – decorating indoors and out, driving around to see lights, giving gifts to family, baking cookies for Santa, ice skating and so much more! They have no idea how much they make our days brighter! May your holidays be filled with joy and love and sweet memories! Merry Christmas, friends!
